Dankwarderode Castle
A reconstructed 12th-century residence of the Welf dukes. Today a branch of the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum.
Henry the Lion had Dankwarderode Castle built from 1175 as his residence. Reconstructed in the 19th-century style after several fires, it now houses the original Burglöwe and medieval treasures of the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum, among them the Welf Treasure.
